Shenyang Pharmaceutical University

Shenyang Pharmaceutical University (SPU) is a university with glorious, revolutionary traditions that have brought it to prominence as one of the only two comprehensive pharmaceutical universities in all of China. It was born at Ruijin in the province of Jiangxi in 1931. SPU occupied an area of 637,000 square meters and an architectural area of 368,000 square meters and possesses a staff of 1141. A new campus is now under construction. And the Subject of Pharmaceutics is ranking No.1 in China.

SPU has developed into a multidisciplinary, multilevel and multiform institute of higher learning, covering wide and diverse majors within the domain of pharmaceutical study. It consists of Schools of Pharmacy, School of Pharmaceutical Engineering, School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, School of Life Sciences and Biopharmaceutical Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Medical Devices, School of Social Science, and School of Continuing Education. SPU also has5 research facilitates: Center for International Pharmaceutical Research Collaboration, Pharmaceutical Test Center, Computer Center, Modern Pharmaceutical Education Center and Benxi Pharmaceutical Research Institute.

The University has been authorized to confer Master’s and Doctor’s Degrees and to enroll students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, as well as other foreign countries. At present, there are 2293 graduates including 420 Ph.D. students and 1873 master students, 6691 undergraduate students, 1366 higher vocational students, and more than 4000 adult undergraduate students. SPU has nurtured a lot of talents in Pharmaceutics, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmacology, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, etc. The employment ration of graduates is 1:7, which means one graduate has 7 positions to choose.

In over 80 years, the university has produced countless elites in pharmaceutical education in china. The university actively develops internal and international exchange and collaboration. It has established relationship with 56 universities and institutions from 17 countries and regions. The motto of SPU is “to be united and diligent, to be practical and innovative”. Most important, both the Government and SPU will offer the scholarship for the excellent foreign student.

SPU would like to establish various relationships with universities all over the world, such as short-term/long-term faculty exchange, joint training of undergraduates and graduates, short-term student exchange activities in vocations, international symposiums and so on. Now we have signed institutional agreement with a few prestigious colleges in the field of pharmaceutical science, such as Purdue University, USA, University of Minnesota, USA, University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Tokyo Pharmaceutical University, Japan, Dong-A University, Korea, Prince of Songkla University, Thailand and so on.
